Anxiety & Depression
The feelings of sadness, lonliness, and fear are normal emotions people feel throughout their lives. However, those feelings can also become a much more severe and persisting psychiatric disorder. In these cases, we may diagnose a person with anxiety or depression, and recommend support and therapy.
Behavioral Issues/ADHD
Over the years, we’ve found that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is much more than children having trouble paying attention. In fact, for many children diagnosed with ADHD, behavioral issues can arise as well. While tantrums and defiance are not specifically symptoms of ADHD, they can be a result of ADHD symptoms.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar Disorder affects more than 3 million people per year. The disorder is associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs. Each swing may last weeks or months. While bipolar disorder cannot be cured, it can be treated with therapy and medication. Bipolar disorder is also known as manic-depressive illness.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can help people struggling to recover from a traumatic or disturbing experience. It has gained attention for helping patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) caused by events such as rape, abuse, car accidents and military combat.
Postpartum Depression
After childbirth, women may be affected by Postpartum Depression, which is a mood disorder indicated by extreme feelings of sadness and anxiety that last for long periods of time and may interfere with the woman’s ability to care for herself or others. While postpartum depression does not have a single known cause, it is treatable through therapy and medication.
Trauma & Attachment
In providing trauma and attachment therapy, we strive to help patients achieve secure attachment status. While this often occurs naturally during early childhood, often the coping skills and social support aren’t available at that time. We find this status can help people become more reslient in the face of trauma later in life.
